Desfilis is advising SoftBank Group Corp. in the $5.375 billion acquisition of the Robotics division of ABB Ltd., a global technology leader in electrification and automation, on the French aspects of the transaction.
ABB’s robotics business is globally recognized for its reliability and high performance. Supported by an extensive distribution network and long-standing partnerships with its customers, the division employs over 7,000 people and generated $2.3 billion in revenue in 2024.
The $5.375 billion transaction will combine ABB Robotics’ cutting-edge technology and industrial expertise with SoftBank’s advanced capabilities in AI, robotics, and next-generation computing. It is aligned with SBG’s strategy to realize Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) through the expansion of its AI robotics business.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals from the European Union, China, and the United States. It is expected to close in mid-to-late 2026.
